About Us
Rodney Vandeveer is a Professor of Organizational Leadership and Supervision at Purdue, brings more than thirty (30) years of industrial and business experience in management positions in human resources, training and development and manufacturing.

An Oxford, Indiana High School graduate, Rodney earned a BS Degree from Purdue in 1973 and the Masters in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1990.

Rodney's business career began as a Production Engineer for Rostone Corporation, a division of Allen Bradley. After numerous positions with AB, Rodney was made Plant Manager with responsibility for 12 million dollar operation in Spencer, Indiana .

He later worked as Manager of Labor Studies for RCA in Bloomington, returning to Lafayette's Rostone Plant as Director of Manufacturing. This was followed with three years as the Director of Human Resources and his last position was Director of Operations.

In 1994, Rodney accepted a position as Assistant Professor at Purdue in the School of Technology, Department of Organizational Leadership and Supervision. In the Department of Organizational Leadership and Supervision he teaches Human Behavior in Organizations, Leadership Philosophy, Leadership Strategies for Quality and Productivity, and a graduate course in Emerging World-class Leadership Strategies.

Rodney is recognized as an accomplished and outstanding teaching in Purdue's OLS Department and has received several teaching awards. Over the last five years, Rodney has taught courses on leadership in Cambridge University in Cambridge, England; London, England, and in Glasgow, Scotland.

He has co-authored a textbook, Human Behavior in Organizations, (Pearson Custom Publishing and Prentice Hall Publishing) and has seen the text used in over 20 divisions of OLS courses as well as being adopted by several universities across the United States

On a national level, Rodney's professional abilities were recognized when he was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the International Society for Exploring Teaching and Learning. Likewise, Rodney's work in areas of Public Policy has earned him and Purdue recognition through his work as an Associate with the Kettering Foundation of Dayton, Ohio. Further, in 1999, Rodney was part of a selected group invited to Washington D.C. to meet with the Council on Higher Education to explore opportunities to move the deliberative democracy process into the college level classroom.

Professor Vandeveer's commitment to the students and their learning remains paramount. He has not only distinguished himself in the classroom, but also in service to students.

Rodney is active in the Boy Scouts, ASQ, American Society for Engineering Management, International Leadership Association, and his church. Rodney and his wife, Mary Jo, have three grown children and six grandchildren. He and his wife enjoy golf and travel.
